Over Population

Reflection

Ahmed began talking about road rage and how it causes risks to everyone on the road. Ahmed then started giving examples of the different situations that you may encounter on the street whilst driving. He knew what to say and he explained everything very thoroughly. The presentation was very good because it contains the list of problems that may occur during driving. After completing the list of problems he then started talking about solutions, these solutions differ for each problem, so you can choose the best solution for a certain problem. What I liked is that he was in to the topic and he chose his words carefully and kept things interesting throughout the whole presentation. Later on when Ahmed finished he was asked questions, and he didn’t hesitate to answer and gave a lot of details, which were very informative and beneficial to us so overall I did enjoy his presentation and I learned that not everyone is the same while driving.

Reflection of the first Meeting

ADMC                         Meeting
March 22th 2011 Class T001

Present: Abdulla Al Alawi (Chair), Mubarak (Participant), Abdulla Amer (Secretary)

Abdullah AAlawai as a chairman started the meeting by introducing the three members of the group. Right after that he moved through the items on our agenda, after we had first discussed the causes of the problem. The secretary Abdullah Amer wrote notes & produced 4 pages of minutes. Mubarak, as participant, shared several suggestions; he did a research on the agenda’s items and he came up with a proposal; he suggested making underground parking, a possible solution to the problem of traffic in ADMC.

We
co-operated on typing up the notes taken by Abdulla Amer in a word document, to upload
it to our blogs.

In my
opinion the group working is a good thing  for the students because they can  share the ideas and help them to solve any problem they  find. We found many solutions for the parking and we agreed on one of the solutions.

minutes of the first meeting

Chairman Abdullah called the meeting to order at 8:55.
We discussed the Traffic and parking issues at the college. The purpose of the meeting was to examine possible solutions to the problems, with particular reference as to which were the most viable. To begin with we briefly discussed the causes of the problem Mubarak said the 2 main general reasons were the increase in the Students in the college. The fact that ADMC is full of Students, Means that it should handle too much cars. This means that it should contain a large space for cars to park.

(A)           Abdullah Al Alawai took on to the first item on the agenda, making an Underground parking. Mubarak if they increase the parings by making parking under the ground would ease the problem. but this project will take a while which is going to make small problems. Abdullah Amer pointed out that it’s very difficult to work in a confined space and in such hot + humid conditions, also it is hard to work while the parking are being used. So it is better to do this project and finish it during the vacation.

(B)            Abdullah then turned to making a bigger space. Mubarak thought that there is no more space available. Abdullha Amer + Abdullah Al Alawi thought using the small places might be good enough. Mubarak thought it a good idea. So they all Agreed on this point

(C)           Fixing the cracks in ground. Mubarak said there was Too much cracks in the ground, which needs o be fixed . to make the car park better and smoother.

(D)           Make a ticket system for those who violate the parking rules. Both Mubarak and Abdullah Amer were strongly opposed to this. Abdullah thought that if everyone one obey the rules there will be more space as they take 2 or 3 parking space for one car. Abdullah Al Alawi said that they sometimes park bhind your car in themiddle of the way which means they distruct the the system bios and will make you wait until they come back.

(E)            Build covered parkings as the heat in the UAE exceeds 50c. Abdulla thought it a good idea. Because you won’t have to worry about the situation when you go back to your car.

(F)      Making special parkings with fees .Abdullah Amer was strongly in favour of Special Parking; he thought it will make it easier to park if you are late for the class.

(G)           Build light system that tells you where the empty parking is. And how Many are they. To save a lot more time and not to go between the traffic because you know if there are parking there already. However, if the light showed that there is no more empty parking you can figure out a solution without wasting time

Abdullah Al Alawi summarized by saying there’d been most agreement in the first sulotion Making underground parking. He said we couldn’t agree on Making bigger spaces. As it was for the other solutions they were handy but not that much,

Mubarak closed the meeting at 9:25.
